Rheva Kombo

Size

Small is designed for wounds up to 2.5×4.5 cm and also works well on exposed parts of the animal. Normally, we recommend small for legs and joints. Large is suitable for injuries elsewhere on the body and works for wounds up to 7×4 cm.

Cleaning

If necessary, we recommend cleaning the wound with saline solution in most cases. Avoid using chemicals in the wound area as this usually impairs the healing process. It is best to change the wound protection during any cleaning.

Things to consider when using

• Avoid touching the adhesive surface when removing the plastic film.
• Attach your Rheva to dry and clean fur, read the package insert. The fur should be free from chemicals such as coat shine and fly spray as these have no function in connection with Rheva treatment. These chemicals also impair Rheva’s adhesive properties.
• When applying, gently run your fingers around the flat surface on the outside of the Rheva so that the adhesive surface gets good contact with the fur.
• Adhesion may be reduced if the animal is shedding or in severe cold and other harsh weather conditions.
• For optimal adhesion, long fur may need to be trimmed.
• It is important to thoroughly clean the fur. Dry thoroughly and use a lint roller or duct tape to remove loose hair and dirt.

Tips for adhesion

The important thing is that the adhesive surface is free from dust, gravel, soil, and dirt. Even coat shine and e.g. fly spray impair adhesion. These products should not be on the fur for good healing.

Usually, it is enough that when cleaning the wound (with clean water or saline solution), you also thoroughly dry the fur around the wound.

Sometimes if the fur has been treated with e.g. coat shine, use a wound cleaning wipe to clean the fur around the wound.

The adhesive in Rheva is a carefully balanced product with medically classified materials for good adhesion and so that it can be removed without pulling or leaving a lot of adhesive in the fur.

The adhesive sticks immediately, but sits better after a few hours. It is good if the animal can be still during that time. Rheva withstands moisture very well once it has stuck.

In some places on the animal, e.g. hocks, legs, and neck (where there is a lot of movement), it may sometimes be necessary to support Rheva with one of our extra fasteners.

Removing Rheva

The animal sometimes removes Rheva itself when it rolls or scratches. Since animals are usually careful with injured areas, this rarely happens.

• Gently pull off the Rheva, starting at one corner.
• Dispose of Rheva as plastic.

Function

Rheva is a wound protection that lets the wound breathe. No component in the protection absorbs moisture, which means the product can be used both indoors and outdoors.

The specially adapted mesh keeps the greatest infection risks away thanks to its unique shape. The mesh acts as a barrier between the wound and everything that can cause infection, such as insects and various forms of contact, for example, a protective blanket.

The protection is contact-free against the wound and creates a calm environment. Wounds usually heal best if they are a little moist, especially at the beginning of the healing process. Rheva prevents the wound from drying out.

The wound can also “breathe” freely thanks to the design of the mesh, which results in a natural healing process. A white plastic film protects the adhesive surface before use.

All this makes Rheva a user-friendly product.

Around the shaped mesh is a flexible frame with an adhesive edge that attaches directly to the fur.
